apud Tertullian. de Pallio c. 4. est Romanus Orbis seu Romanum Imperium, Barbariae oppositum. Terram enim dividunt Romani Scriptores. in Orbem Romanum et Barbariam; quô posteriore nomine intelligunt, quidquid alienum erat imperio Romano, seu quidquid erat ultra limitem Romanum quaquaversum, ut videre est apud Amm. Marcellinum, et alios. Huic itaque Tertullianus Romanitatem opponit, Graeci Scriptores Ρ῾ωμανίαν. Sic Epiphanius de Manete, καταλέιψας τὴν τῶν Περςῶν χώραν τῇ Ρ῾ωμανίᾳ προςέβαλε, relictâ Persarum regione, in Romanum orbem pervenit Idem alibi de Ario, Καὶ ἐξαφθῆναι ἐξαὐτοῦ πῦρ οὐ τυχὸν, ὃ κατείληφε πᾶςαν τὴν Π῾ρμανίαν χεδὸν etc. Alii Graeci interdum τὸ Ρ῾ωμαϊκὸν ἔδαφος, vel τὴν πολιτείαν τοῦ Ρ῾ωμαϊκοῦ ὀνόματος.
